Are you ready for extreme cuteness? I certainly hope so…

The local neighborhood cat decided to have her kittens in our garage this time.
I’m certainly not complaining:)

Oh, Summer.

August 28, 2010

I look at the date on the bright, beaming screens each day and can hardly believe my eyes. It seems that time escapes me, like it has countless other unknowns, drifting right through my hands like steam over a pot of boiling water, only leaving the faintest amount of moisture to remind you it was even ever there at all.

Why does it seem that summer is the shortest of seasons? Winter always drags its feet, kicking and screaming until tulips push through frosted grounds, but summer seems to be gone in a fleeting moment, leaving you with pumpkins and crunching leaves. Maybe it doesn’t help that I’m not even a fan of Christmas, and snow makes me cringe, but what’s more sad than the end of summer?

This girl needs out of the north east!

Vegan Chocolate Cookies

August 13, 2010

Sometimes I have my fancy-pants cooking days, but most of the rest of the time I just want to throw together something, simple, basic and, most of all, delicious. I’ve found that vegan cooking and baking for me is not basic enough. There’s usually some funky ingredients that, unless your an actual vegan, you probably won’t have on hand. This is the second time I’ve used The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur’s recipe for Double Chocolate Chip Cookies and they absolutely fit the criteria of basic, simple and completely delicious! They’re easy and quick to whip up plus they are so tasty!

Dougie the Dino quite enjoyed them…

Two loves

July 13, 2010

Today was my day off and, of course, it rained.

I was in a crafty mood and was looking for something to do when I came across a book someone gave me a while ago. It’s one of those thrift store 1970’s travel photography books with cheesy picture of sunbathers in bikinis and “artistic” views of fountains and tall buildings. Wondering whether to throw it away or send it back to make rounds at thrift stores it then occurred to me… ENVELOPES

I love envelopes.
Like most kids I adored getting mail. Even now I still love it. I adore that my grandparents still send me valentines day and halloween cards and the biggest smile stretches across my face when my boyfriend sends me a letter or postcard while he’s away for work.
I used the pages of photos in that book to make these little guys. I like how they turned out a lot… they’re each so unique.

I love photography too, of course.
this little craft made me want to make stationary out of my own photographs (don’t worry, that’ll be another post for another time) and really just made me look at photos in a whole new way. Its fascinating to change your perspective sometimes.

I made many more of these little guys from the pages of that book, but these are just a few of my favorites.

It’s about time I posted some terrarium photos right?
I’d say that I’ve been busy (because, well, I have) but I’ve also been slacking a bit too…

So here they are! My terrariums
I got both jars from a local thrift store for 25cents each. I love the cork tops and the shapes of them. April brought us all these adorable figurines to put in out terrariums and I couldn’t help but pick the little fawn of course…

Make sure you check out Demi’s photos of her terrariums too – they are too cute!

Tonight was lovely! Whats much better than a couple of friends sitting around eating sweets and making little plant homes? not much.

For dessert I made mini Strawberry-Blueberry Galettes, Teeny Tiny Chai Spice cupcakes and chocolate waffle cookies. To drink there was some fresh strawberry lemonade and pomegranate iced green tea.

April brought the cutest little figures to put in our terrariums- they were adorable!

I’ll have some more photos of the actual terrariums later, but heres just a few shots from the “party”…
